Pray in the New Year
Prayer is the manner in which we commune in the transcendent. While we journey on this earth as mortal people, we know that we are instructed to engage in an immortal work. This example is set for us in no less than Christ Himself, the example for this endeavor in Mark 1:35 "And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went to a desolate place, and there he prayed." Communing with the Father was Jesus' very nature and nature He taught His disciples through a parable to encourage them that they should always pray and never abandon Hope (Luke 18:1). Knowing this precious Truth, we, as believers, must never underestimate the priority of prayer. Considering the church, E.M. Bounds rightly stated, "The prayers of God's saints are the capital stock in heaven by which Christ carries on His great work upon the earth."
As 2023 comes to a close, you may be considering how to best approach 2024. Your elders have been considering the same and we decided the best way for our fellowship to ring in the new year would be in prayer! Since we are engaging in spiritual work in 2024, we must first engage this work spiritually.
With this in mind, we have decided to create an opportunity for you to join us as we pray in the new year. We would like for everyone to commit to a thirty minute period of prayer for the coming year between the hours of 6pm December 31 and 6am January 1. You can pray wherever you are at that time. For those of you who like to pray in the church itself, the building will be unlocked for you to come and go as you pray.
