What is prayer?

The Westminster Shorter Catechism defines prayer as “offering our desires to God in the name of Christ for things that agree with His will, confessing our sins, and thankfully recognizing His mercies.” An even shorter definition is “prayer is aligning our will with God’s will.” Prayer, aligning ourselves with God’s will, is essential if we are to truly Glorify Him in all things, Grow in our Christ-likeness, and Go do the things He commands while using the gifts He has given us.
