Matt Guthrie grew up on the coast of North Carolina. After graduating from NC State University, he moved to Charlotte where he met his best friend and soulmate. Matt and Tammy married in 1994 and moved to Kentucky to attend seminary. They have two grown sons, Noah and Joshua, and daughter-in-love Eryn. Tammy has dedicated her adult life to strengthening children and their families. She has worked as a counselor, parent educator, nanny, and currently works with families affected by domestic violence. Tammy currently serves Southside as a member of the worship team and the children’s ministry.

Matt pastored congregations in Kentucky and North Carolina before a fifteen year return to teaching math and science in the public schools. He joined the staff of Southside as Equipping Pastor in 2023. Matt's passion is teaching people how to read and study the Bible so they can grow in Christlikeness. In his free time, Matt dreams of being a farmer.
