Lent at Southside

Lent is a time of preparation, characterized by an attitude of repentance, as we get ready for the celebration of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Find resources below on how you can prepare your own heart this season.
Prepare for the celebration of the divine gifts of the crucifixion and resurrection by reflecting on these Scripture passages. Examine your life in light of their truth. Allow them to lead you to confession and repentance.

The practices included in lent — fasting, prayer, and reflection — are all Biblical practices and spiritual disciplines. By employing these disciplines, believers can be strengthened in their faith..."

Easter is the rest of the story after Christmas. It’s a time to be reminded of God’s great mercy to us sinners. Lent is not found in Scripture and is extra-biblical, but this season before Easter can be a time to pursue a mindset and dwell on what is in Scripture. We should reflect and ponder that God loved us and sent Jesus to die in our place for the forgiveness of our sins. These pages were created to help you focus on God and His mighty work and plan through Jesus Christ.
